Business Doctor helps Warrington based company to double turnover

Warrington-based digital marketing company Dreamscape is celebrating after doubling turnover and profit in the three years since calling in ‘Business Doctor’ Kevin Cook.
Thanks to its client-centred business strategy, the creative marketing organisation has recorded a 210% increase in turnover and a 250% profit increase over the last three years, and has doubled its staff.
Dreamscape founder Bernard McCabe launched the full service agency in 2004 as a one-man operation after working on contracts with big name brands, including Mercedes, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Nissan, Peugeot and the NHS. Dreamscape grew quickly with staff increasing to four to cope with expanding demand.
However, starting a business was proving a complex challenge for Bernard. He explains: “Clients were beating a path to our door. But what soon became clear was that, whilst I was a skilled marketer, I wasn't, at that point, a skilled business person with a long-term plan.
“Before long, my short-comings as a businessman were outstripping my skills as a designer and marketer. Cash flow was a problem despite the level of demand for our services.”
Bernard’s business epiphany came when a client recommended Business Doctors, which led him to contacting local Business Doctor Kevin Cook, who runs Business Doctors Cheshire from offices in Congleton. Kevin first visited Dreamscape for a half-day strategy session and then worked with the business over the following months to help implement an agreed business plan.
Bernard says: “Within six months we saw a huge difference in our business. With Kevin’s help we started to set and achieve targets. The business built up a cash reserve and we saw profits rise. Within 18 months we had rebuilt the business and were growing again, and quickly. But this time, we had a plan, a vision and goals to achieve. Since then, we have seen year-on-year growth, we are now a team of eight in larger offices with a bigger client base.
